Analysis of Effective Interpersonal Communication used by Tour Guides at Fort Rotterdam

This research discussed about effective interpersonal communication used by Tour guides st fort Rotterdam which aimed to describe and find out the effective interpersonal communication used by Tour Guides at Fort Rotterdam. This research based on Devito’s Theory about effectiveness of interpersonal communication. This research was descriptive qualitative method. The researcher actually used interview guide for five respondents who were working as a Tour Guide at Fort Rotterdam. The findings showed that there were five kinds of effective interpersonal communication used by Tour Guides, such as openness, empathy, supportiveness, positiveness and equality. The researcher concluded that all tour guide more dominant used empathy, supportiveness and equality rather than openness and positiveness. The researcher believed that all tour guides who used effective interpersonal communication were capable of communicating to the visitor effectively
