The Illocutionary Act of Television Advertisements “Mobile Network Operator” (Progmatic Analysis)
This research discussed about The Illocutionary Act of Television Advertisements “Mobile Network Operator” (Progmatic Analysis). This research aimed to find out the sentence type of utterances and to describe kind of direct and indirect illocutionary act which was performed in “mobile network operator” on television advertisement. The researcher focused on Searle’s theory about Speech Act. Then, the data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative method where the data analyzed through Bogdan and Biklen in Emzir theory, yhe researcher used coding sheer as the instrument to find out more valid data. This research was conducted in order to give information to readers to understand deeply about any aspects of conversations. The findings showed that there were four advertisements that consisted in 48 utterances that found in the whole advertisements. The type of sentences were declarative sentence, imperative sentence, and interrogative sentence. The direct illotutions that mostly appear in this analysis were stating and asking, the others are informing, suggenting, answering, ordering, opproving, complaining, offering,seggenting, commanding, explaining and committing. While the indirect illutions that mostly appear were informing, complining, and stating. The others are offering, convincing, answering, comparing, advising,requesting, opinion, thinking, threatening, surprising and hesitating
