English theacher’s Gasture toward the Students’ Motivation in Studyng English in SMP Al-Islam Benteng Tellue
This research discussed about the teacher’s gesture toward the Student’s Motovation in Studyng English in SMP Al-Islam Benteng Tellue. This research aimed to describe the teacher’s gesture in order to motivate students in studying English and to find out the student’s response about the teacher’s gesture in the classroom. This research actually based on Hunt’s theory about the teacher’s gesture. The researcher applied descriptive qualitative method. Yhe researcher used observation sheet and interview sheet an the instrument in order to find out the valid data. The findings showed that there were six gastures thet used by teacher in the classroom, those were: Facial expression, head nodding, smile, the tacher baside student, the teacher circulates the classroom, and eye contact. The researcher believed that there were four students which had been motivated by teacher’s gesture. The researcher concluded that the teacher should know about the nonverbal communication especially related to gesture because the researcher arguet that the teacher’s gesture could motivate students in studying English in the classroom
