Charecteristc of Student Academic Self-Concep in Learning English
This research aimen to find out the levels of characteristics of student academic self –concep and the ways they showed theier academic self –concept in learning English .This research focused on Bong and Skaalvik,s theory about academic self-concep .Then ,is was analyzed by using mix method to combine both quantitative and qualitative data in balance through the single study .The data were collection by using questionnaire and observation sheet .This research was conducted in order to find out the strategis that they used in showing their academic self –concep such as give more feedback ,active in the clss ,asking and answering question used English ,speak English clearly ,avoid sitting in the rear of the classroom and look confidence .The findings showed that the participants of this research were 48 student from the third grade student in Al-Fityan school in academic year 2016-2017 gowa regency ,South Sulawesi .There were 27 student (56.25%)categorized in high academic self –concept and 21 student (43.75%) categorized in low academic self concept .The result on this study showed that academic self –concept could be formed if the student have a positive thinking and believe in theirselves toward their ability .The student have to study hard,have a lot of information abaut the material ,or have more experiences in learning English in order to create a positive thinking
