An american’s volunteerism in iraq as seen in novel “barefoot in baghdad “ ( postcolonial approach
This research discussed about an American’s volunteerism in Iraq as seen in novel “Barefoot in Baghdad “ This research aimed to describe why Manal wants to help women in Iraq and how the ways as volunteer to help people in the novel. This research focused on the reason why volunteer wants to help other people by using function of volunteerism by Clary’s theory and prosocial behavior by Mussen’s theory for answered the ways to help.Then ,the data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative method.The researcher used note taking as the instrument to find out the valid data .The findings showed that there are five functions of volunteerism that cantain in the novel . Understanding and social functions are most dominant as the reason Manal wants to help people. And for prosocial behavior, the findings showed that there are four forms in the ovel.Cooperating form is most dominant as the way to help people
