This research aimed to describe what learning strategies used by english literature departement students of adab and humanities faculty at state islamic university of alauddin makassar. the object of this research was the sixth semester students as much as ninety students who were chosen randomly. the participants were exammined through questionnaire using o'malley and and chamot (1990) theory as the measurement instrument to checj the learning srategy preference.
