This research discusses the defense mechanism towards anxiety in 13 Reasons Why television series. The aims of this research are to know how the characters show their anxiety toward the toward Hannah Baker tapes and to point out how is the characters' defense mechanism toward the anxiety. the object of this research is 13 Reasons Why television series. 13 Reasons Why is a psychological themed television series about a suicide tapes that contain 13 reasons why Hannah Baker committed suicide. The researcher focused on anxiety and defense machanism theory by Sigmund Freud.
