this research discussed social conflicts in the anna karenina novel. the research chose to analyze the novel anna karenina by leo tolystoy by used the sociological theory of literature, in this case karl marx's conflict theory (1950-1960) because social relations will emerga through this litery work. the researcher used descriptive qualitative to explain how social role conflict and religious hegemony occur in the novel by using note sheets as research instruments to analyze data. after analyzing the data, the researcher concludes the result of this research about the social conflict in anna karenina novel by leo tolystoy. this research uses the theory of marx's conflict. purposed 2 kinds of social conflict, they are social role and religious hegemony.
