Discourse marker used bu native and nonnative speakers of english in selected videos on Youtube
The main objective of this research is discussing about the used of discourse markers by native and nonnative speakers of English in selected videos on YouTube. This research aims to find the used of discourse markers and also to show the differences in using discourse markers by native and nonnative speakers of English. This research focused on Biber et al theory about types of discourse markers. In analyzing the data, this research is primarily using descriptive analysis method. As the result, this research shows that there are nine types of discourse markers by Biber et al theory such as, interjection, greeting and farewell expressions, response elicitors, response form, circum stances adverbial, hesitator, various polite speech-acts formulate, vocatives and expletives. In this research, there are 644 data used by native and nonnative speakers. 281 data used by native speakers and 363 data used by nonnative speakers.
