Realistic conflict in Charles Dicken's Novel "A Tale of Two Cities"
This research discusses the realistic conflict in Charles Dickens novel" A Tale of Two Cities" and aims to find out the process of realistic conflict in the novel A Tale of Two Cities. The researcher used the function of the social conflict theory of Lewis A. Coser. The data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method to find, describe, and analyze the data found in the novel A Tale of Two Cities. The researcher used note-taking as the instrument to find out the valid data. This research was conducted to answer the problems of how realistic conflict occurred in the novel. The findings show that there were kinds of realistic conflict according to Lewis A. Coser as following: hostile feeling and hostile behavior. The researcher concluded that the conflict contained in the novel is dominated by realistic conflict. Because many conflicts in the novel occur between personal and themselves the person with other individuals, people with feelings of disappointment and revenge.
