Verbal humor in the Stand-Up Comedy by Trevor Noah

This research discusses verbal humor and aims to find out the types of verbal humor expressed in stand up comedy by Traver Noah. This research used a theory that proposed by shade about verbal humor. The results of this study can give a brief explanation of the analysis of the verbal language through humor related to the topic. Humor is an important topic that can be analyzed using a linguistic approach. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive method. The researcher used her self as the main instrument and note taking sheets to helped her in collecting the data. The findings show that there are 8 types of 12 types expressed in the 4 videos of stand up comedy by Traver Noah they are, pun, parody, joke, sarcasm, irony, satire, anecdote, and tall tale. The findings also reveal that parody is the most popular type found in this research and there are last Four types were not appeared throughout entire video.
