Foreign Language Acquisition of Local People in Tourist Attractions in Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi
This study examines the process of acquiring a second language in adults who work and live in Ke'te Kesu. There are 5 local people as respondents, aged 25 to 70 years old. The focus of this research lies in people who are good at speaking English. Aims to describe how they acquire a second/foreign language and the factors influence the process. This study is included in qualitative descriptive research. The data taken from the interviews are analyzed using the acquisition-learning hypothesis by Stephen Krashen. The results reveal that in various ways they acquired English, various ways such as self-learning, at school and English language course institution.. The process of acquiring their second language is influenced by several factors such as vocabulary, grammar and accent. The following are the obstacles for them, but they continue to try to practice it and always try to communicate with foreigners.
