Difficulties in answering structure and written Expression faced by Male and female stuents of english and literature departement
This research discussed about the difficulties in answering structure and written expression faced by male and female students of English and Literature Department. The objectives of this research are (1) to identify the difficulties in answering Structure and Written Expression faced by male student of English and Literature Department in Alauddin State Islamic University of Makassar. (2) to find the difficulties in answering Structure and Written Expression faced by female student of English and Literature Department in Alauddin State Islamic University of Makassar. (3) to identify the commonality difficulties faced by both male and female student of English and Literature Department in Alauddin State Islamic University of Makassar. This research used mixed method. The instruments of this research are paper test and interview. The researcher took 50 students, 25 male students and 25 female students who struggle to get the minimum score of 500. The results of this research show that the male students found difficulties in structure section such as, subject and verb agreement in multiple clause, object pronoun, present participle, and adjective clause connectors/subject. Meanwhile countable noun, simple present tense, noun phrase, prepositional phrase, Article, present perfect, Noun, possessive pronoun, adjective clause Connectors, and past participle. The difficulties that female students found in structure section are object pronoun, appositive, present participle, adjective clause connectors/subject, and noun clause connectors. whereas countable noun, simple present tense, noun phrase, adjective clause connectors, present participle, parallel structure, prepositional phrase, article, Noun, and phrasal verb. The commonality difficulties found by both male and female are object pronoun, present participle, and adjective clause connectors/subject, countable noun, simple present tense, noun phrase, prepositional phrase, article, noun, and adjective clause connectors.
