The colorism in brit bennett's "the vanishing half
This study analyzes one of Brit Bennett's novels entitled The Vanishing Half which was first published in 2020. The aim of this study is to find out the persistent of colorism in the novel that is conveyed through the main characters and provide information about colorism impact character and identity. In collecting the sources, the researcher uses gualitative method. Colorism will be the appropriate approach to analyze the research guestion together with theory. The theory by Margaret Hunter applied are concern with influence of colorism by main characters (Desiree Vignes, Stella Vignes, Jude Winston, Kennedy Sanders). The result of the study is there are different ways colorism influence the main Characters and the way they deal with it also different. Desire Vignes influenced by 3 persistent issues of colorism (skin tone, status, social ineguality). Stella Vignes influenced by (status). Jude Winston influenced by (skin tone, social ineguality, status) and Kennedy Sanders influenced by (social ineguality, status).
