Paulo Coelho's “Veronica Decides to Die” Novel in Russia Formalism Point of View

This research aims to find out how the plot of the novel “Veronica Decides to Die” by Paulo Coeiho is conveyed in the perspective of Russia formalism. The research method used is descriptive analysis using Russia formalism theory to describe the research guestion. The result of this research is the discovery of the effects of strangeness, unfamiliarity, and defamiliarization of the plot (Sjuzet). The conclusion of this research are found in the series of each intrinsic elements namely exposition, conflicts, and climax has defamiliarization and strange effect. Strange and defamiliarization conveyed in sjuzet covered by those logic story of the novel. Keywords : Russia formalism, defamiliarkzation, and plot.
