The Portrayal of Androgyny on The Main Character in Nawal El Saadawi's Women at Point Zero
This study aims to examine the portrayal of the androgyny of the main Character in the novel Woman at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi. The objective of this research is to find out the androgyny portrayed by the main character through its behavior in the novel Woman at Point Zero. This study is a library study and it used the descriptive gualitative method. In analyzing the data, this study employed the androgyny theory by C. G. Heilbrun that integrated with Bem Sex Role Inventory (BSRI) by Sandra L. Bem. The results of this study show that Firdaus is an androgynous individual. She presented both masculine and feminine traits toward the process of solving problems and it reveals her androgynous. When she deals with certain situations that reguire her to face it with masculinity, then she faced it in a masculine way. On the other hand, when she faced a certain situation that only can solve with femininity, then she faced it in a feminine way as well.
