Power of Literacy in novel The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George
This research discussed about the Power of Literacy in novel The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George. This research focused on analyzing the representation of Literacy as power in the novel of The Little Paris Bookshop. The data were analyzed using descriptive gualitative method. The theory that used in this research were Semantic theory by Geoffrey Leech (1974), and Rcading effect to people mind theory by Anne Cunningham and Keith Stanovic (1997). The main Instrument of the research is Note-Taking. The findings showed 31 data found related to power of literacy in the novel. The conclusion of the research is there are various powers of literacy indicated in Little Paris Bookshop novel. Based on the semantic theory. literacry has the meaning of giving people additional effect rather than just a literacy of reading. The effect itself is based on the theory of Reading effect to people's mind, where reading book is not only just source of knowledge and information, but with more benefit, they are knowledge medium, providing comfort and relaxation, empowering people, saving lifes or lengthen lifespan, enhancing analytical thinking ability, reducing stress, healing effects, enhancing writing skills, improving focus and concentration, providing tranguility, alleviate depression, stimulating mental, strengthen brain, guiding people to their goal, and vocabulary expansion. As well as the negative effect, which is changing people's character.
