Melodrama Formula in Nomadland Movie

This research focuses on the melodrama formula in Nomadland movie (2020). This research aims to show how element of melodrama formula in the Nomadland movie was. The researcher used descriptive method and used the intrinsic element as the main data source taken from scripts of Nomadiland movie by Chlo& Zhao. Thus the data were cited, classified, described, and analyzed systematically to be able to answer the guestion in the problem statement. The researcher collected the data then analyzed them using the basic concept of melodrama's theory by John G. Cawelti combined with Linda Williams's theory. The result of the research revealed that there are 9 melodrama formula that inserted by the writer into the movie scripts which can be categorized as: 1 sensationalism, 2 crisis, 4 moralities, 1 the space of innocence and 1 recognition of the virtue of a victim-hero.
