English Onomatopoeia in Comic “Dead Days” by Dey

This research discusses English Onomatopoeia in Comic “Dead Days” by Dey which aims to find out the types of onomatopoeia words and analyze the readers” ability in understanding the meaning of onomatopoeia. The data of this research are collected from the comic “Dead days” by Dey and guestionnaire from the students in 2017/2018 academic year of Alauddin State Islamic University of Makassar. This research is analyzed the types based on Bredin's theory. This research uses the descriptive gualitative method. In analyzing the data, this research uses note-taking and also guestionnaire as the instruments of research. The results show that the most freguent type of onomatopoeia appears in comic was direct onomatopocia. Meanwhile, the test results emphasized the readers' categorized as good in understanding the meaning of onomatopoeia words.
