A case study on analysis of leaners' Errors Made in Writing and Their evaluation
This study was undertaken in two phases. For Phase One, thirty three written samples were selected randomiy from a pool of 120 in-class written assignment gathered in no particular order. Every sixth essay was selected for the study. In the first phase, students were asked to write, within a 60-minute session, a 250-word expository essay on the topic “The Influence of TV on Children's Development”. For Phase Two, surveys that contain a list of sentences from students? essays were given to EFL teachers for them to rate in terms of acceptability and intelligibility of the students? errors. These fifteen teachers were then asked about their perceptions of the students' errors and their evaluation regarding the students” errors. They were informed the purpose of their assessment for the present study. Finally, the teachers completed a guestionnaire about teaching experiences and educational background. A coding scheme was developed for analyzing the teachers” comments regarding the perceptions of students errors in their evaluation.
